I originally started creating Digital Products on Etsy back in Q2 2022. I had no clue, I just jumped in feet first. So since I am just now starting to blog about my journey on Etsy here at the end of Q1 2025, I wanted to recap my digital products income for the year of 2022.

To make an income online, it truly takes time and consistency. At least through observing my journey [selling digital products] you will be able to see the process and manage your expectations.
Side note! When I say Q1, I am referring to the times frames of the year. For sales, the year is broken up into four quarters. Jan to March- Quarter 1, April to June – Quarter 2, July to September – Quarter 3 and October to December is Quarter 4.
In which, you may have heard many coaches reference quarter 4 which is a time many Etsy sellers can see their biggest sales rush around Black Friday on throughout Christmas.
So, why do I want to talk about my first year on Etsy?
Back in 2022, I realized that I wanted to have a way to make money online.
If you have no idea what digital products are I recommend checking out this post first
I looked into a few online coaches and began learning about digital products.
I would put it off and then something would always bring me right back to it.
I would study a little bit about Etsy, do 1-2 listings and then put off.
And I kept putting it off.
One day I decided I wanted to go all in, so I downloaded some templates from Creative Fabrica and got started!
This had to be somewhere near the end of the school year in May…I listed my first few templates.
I started getting busy in my other business and once again ghosted Etsy.
Somewhere around the last week of June, I earned my first sale!!!
This made me so excited and I began uploading a few more listings. Got distracted again and put it off to the side.
What are the average Etsy Sales in First Year?
I have no idea what the average Etsy sales are in the first year, however from June-December of 2022 I continued to upload templates here and there. Nothing too strategic or consistent. I just designed and uploaded whenever I felt like it. Here are the results that I got with lack of strategy and consistency during my first year on Etsy:

So, here is the breakdown of my first few months, which were around mid-2022
June: $60.34 Sales-4
July: $13.14 Sales-2
August: $0.00 Sales-0
September: $0.00 Sales-0
October: $5.89 Sales-1
November: $17.95 Sales-3
December: $10.00 Sales 1
Total: $107.32 Sales-11
Work vs. Results in 2022
I would love to be able to say that I put my head down and got straight to work. That I was super motivated, focused and organized on building my Etsy business.
While, I had my moments…I was far from consistent.

Judging by my stats, I had a good 50/50 break between traffic that Etsy brought to my shop and what I brought to my shop. So I realize, I must’ve been doing something right!
I think it just goes to show that there is potential there you just have to be willing to step up to the plate and trust the process. While it may not seem like a lot of progress is being made in the beginning you just have to keep at it.
I get it that Etsy is a numbers game. So it feels like it would be beneficial to just upload a ton of digital product listings. However, quality over quantity is usually best.
If your customers aren’t satisfied with your work they will leave a ton of negative reviews that will tank your shop’s quality score.
